The authority in charge of the property is the GOPHCY (General Organisation for the Preservation of Historic Cities in Yemen), established in 1990 with the aim of managing and safeguarding all the historic cities of Yemen Hadhramaut is Yemen's largest governorate, and part of an even larger premodern Hadhramaut region that reached into present-day Oman. The governorate, with twenty-eight districts, covers some 74,000 square miles in the southeastern part of Yemen, stretching from the border with Saudi Arabia in the north to the Gulf of Aden in the south This was one of Yemen's most significant experiments in religious education in terms of the numbers of students involved; the duration of the practice (from 1974 to 2002); and the material, organizational, and administrative resources involved, which resulted in hundreds of schools across North Yemen WPHF seeks to fund qualifying local organizations and projects led by and working alongside forcibly displaced women in Yemen that are high impact, innovative and contribute directly to the following objectives: Promote improved socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and girls in peacebuilding contexts (WPHF impact area 6)
